Archbishops raise the stakes as players lace their skates

With excitement building in the Stanley Cup Finals, Archbishop J. Michael Miller, CSB, has issued a challenge to Boston archbishop Cardinal Seán P. O'Malley.

If the Vancouver Canucks win the Stanley Cup, Cardinal O'Malley will make a $100 donation to Project Advance*, the annual diocese-wide appeal that helps fund many of the institutions, programs, ministries, and needs within the Archdiocese of Vancouver.

Conversely, if the Boston Bruins edge out the Canucks, Archbishop Miller will make a $100 donation to Catholic Charities Boston, which provides a broad spectrum of social service care to thousands of needy individuals and families in Massachusetts.
