Curry-in-a-hurry not a worry

Father de Souza says media patronizing ethnic voters

Father Raymond J. de Souza recently wrote an opinion piece in the National Post about the ethnic vote in last Monday's federal election.

In regards to the dubiously titled "curry-in-a-hurry" campaign, where  Jason Kenney, Citizenship and Immigration minister in the last Parliament, ate with many groups of Indo-Canadian constituents, de Souza said the campaign was "was not about shared meals, but shared values with naturally conservative immigrant communities."

He added that many journalists were patronizing ethnic voters by thinking that "the surest way to the ethnic voter’s heart is to put his food in your stomach."
